    Veterans Day Books for Kids

The legend says that in every country, the winds whisper ancient stories, and the rivers carry the memories of their ancestors. As a country, we are no different.

When it comes to carrying on the heritage of gallantry and sacrifice, books serve as the best carrier of traditions to honor our veterans who have served our country.

Sifting through books allows you to relish the spirit of courage, stories that speak to the beating heart of a nation.

We just celebrated Veterans Day, and if you still need to explain the significance and relevance of the day to your children, don’t panic. We’ve produced a list of ten Veterans Day books for kids to help you teach your children about our country’s rich history.

    What is Veterans Day

Author Margot Parker uses two characters, Ben and Amy, to convey the significance of Veterans Day.  Ben discusses the significance of the day with Amy, explaining why we celebrate Veterans Day every year.

    2. Hero Dad by Melinda Hardin

    Hero Dad by Melinda Hardin
When words are combined with vibrant images, it not only enhances a story but also aids in simply teaching a complex topic. Melinda Hardin achieved the same thing by collaborating with Bryan Langdo. Her words, together with Langdo’s watercolor and pencil images, form a stunning narrative about the army and everyday heroes.

    3. Don’t Forget, God Bless Our Troops by Jill Biden

This eBook was written by First Lady Jill Biden, who was inspired by her granddaughter Natalie. The novel, written from the perspective of a youngster about the family, presents a story about how a family copes when a parent is in a war zone on the other side of the world. Interestingly, the eBook includes an audio CD.

    4. Daddy’s Boots by Sandra Miller Linhart

Daddy’s Boots by Sandra Miller Linhart

An award-winning children’s deployment book with gorgeous drawings that help young readers identify with the characters.

The plot revolves around a Boot. It is Boot’s responsibility to transport Daddy where he is required, but it is Daddy’s responsibility to explain why.

In military books and top deployment books for children, this book is a favorite of all main military branches: Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, and Reserves.

    5. America’s White Table by Margot Theis Raven

Through the story of White Table, this book introduces children to a fascinating aspect of soldier life.

The story takes place in an Army mess hall, and the White Table serves as a symbol to honor and remember servicemen who have died, gone missing, or been held captive in the line of duty. The protagonist, Katie, and her sisters set a White Table as a special gift for their Uncle John, and their mother explains the meaning of each item on the table—a must-read for children to understand and respect the amount of sacrifice made by the Armed Forces

    6. The Poppy Lady: Moina Belle Michael and Her Tribute to Veterans by Barbara Walsh

    The Poppy Lady
This book focuses on another aspect of Veteran’s Day: the red poppy, a symbol that honors the service and sacrifices of our veterans. The book, which is set during World War I, narrates the story of Moina Belle Michael, a Georgia schoolteacher who fought to institute the red poppy as a symbol to commemorate and remember troops. Writer Barbara Elizabeth Walsh teamed with artist Layne Johnson to create an engaging and entertaining story for youngsters. She drew material from original documents and Moina’s great-nieces to make it a captivating read.
