Problem

Major Issue: 

• Organizations such as Petsmart, Petco, and other wholesale businesses are known to keep animals in poor conditions. 

• Although these companies source their animals from other shelters and pounds, purchasing animals through these brands only contribute more to the mistreatment of more to come. 
• Well known businesses such as Petsmart and Petco are easier platforms to shop from. Due to this, people often avoid branching out to other facilities (such as shelters, smaller businesses, and pounds). 
• Customers who do want to explore alternatives, tend to run into lengthy and ambiguous processes. They have to sift through all the local shelters 1 by 1. 

Subissue: 

• Day by day more unchipped animals are getting lost and owners go through lengthy and laborious tasks to communicate this with others

Solution

We will create an app that connects users (potential/current pet owners) to local small businesses, shelters, and pounds. This would be done by using their location and by partnering with local communities to reach these organizations. Additionally, we will have features in the app allowing pet owners to share their daily lives with other pet owners. It’ll be similar to a social media platform where people can share pet concerns, enjoyments, and even information about missing pets. When creating an account the user will get the option to put in information about their pets such as their breed, other descriptions, health issues, personality, and etc. 

Using this statistical data and prior knowledge about the breed of animal the app will help users in finding their lost animals. This app will also serve as a platform for people to report sightings, and to overall connect with each other. 

What is their idea?

To create an app that connects users (potential/current pet owners) to local small businesses, shelters, and pounds. Incorporated into the app there will be similar social media like features where owners can post about the missing pets, and pet concerns. 

What Problem does it solve?

Solves the issue of over contributions to neglective companies such as petco and petsmart. Creates an informative and safe place for people to share and interact with other pets and their owners. 

How their idea help people?

Becomes a fast and easier way for users to find local businesses, shelters, and pounds. Will help users in communicating about pet health concerns, loss, and missing pets.
