Story

HTTPS- Securing our digital worlds

Introduction

In the Early Days, Browsers had Http which stands for (Hypertext Transfer Protocol). Http is a World Wide Web Protocol but soon later it was found that anyone can enter in our account and know our personal details, Bank Account- Details and etc. That’s why Netscape Communications Created Https which stands for (Hypertext Transfer protocol Secure)

The difference between these two is that Https made our web browser safer than Http. Which stopped hacker from entering the browser and knowing our personal details and Banking details. A interesting about HTTPS is the primary goal was to ensure secure transactions over the internet, particularly for online banking and shopping other than being to secure browsers.

Understanding

How does Https Protect Our Personal Information, and Bank details. So, first HTTPS uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to encrypt the data transmitted between the user’s browser and the web server. This means that even if data is intervened during transmission, it cannot be read or understood by unauthorized Hackers because it is encrypted.

Why HTTPS is crucial for online shopping and banking. As a result, usernames and passwords can’t be stolen in transit when users enter them into a form. If websites or web applications have to send sensitive or personal data to users (for instance, bank account information), encryption protects that data as well.

Working

How Https works, So first The Client which is us send a request to search next Server Accepts the Request and Certificate which Contains a Public Key. Then Client sends the message encrypted with the Public Key. The next Process is that (SSL) The Server decrypts the message with a Private Key, after that’s done, Both Client and server Generate Session Keys.

Then Client sends the Finished encrypted with session key and again this time Server sends the Finished encrypted with session key. Then we have a Secure Data Exchange

HTTP vs HTTPS

HTTP is not secure. Data sent by HTTP is transmitted in plaintext, which means it can be intercepted and read by anyone who gains access to it. There is no encryption, so sensitive data like login credentials, personal information, and Bank details are at risk.

Data is encrypted using SSL/TLS, making it difficult for attackers to intercept and read the data from HTTPS. HTTPS Provides authentication, ensuring that users are communicating with the intended website and not an imposter. Some Impacts from HTTPS are Https has made the World of Web Browsers Safer and Better.

Application

To make sure that we are on a secure website we check Check the URL: Ensure the website URL begins with “https://” instead of “http://”. The ‘s’ stands for secure and also Enable Browser Warnings: Keep browser security settings active to receive warnings about suspicious websites or unsafe connections. If you want to check how to see https://, you can click the URL And at the very start u will see https or if it’s not secure You will see Http.

Safety Awareness

You Can Ensure Safety for your peers by Checking the URL: Ensure the website URL begins with “https://” instead of “http://”. And make sure to Enable the Browser warning: Keep on continues Browser settings on so that you receive Continues warning that you are on the Https:// secured website.
