If you want to upskill yourself and advance your career, we have some exciting information. We’ve gathered valuable data on the skills that are currently in high demand this year and will continue to be sought after next year.
Moonpreneur has created this video to provide insights into the demand for nine skills in the last ten years.
Over the past decade, the demand for nine specific skills has experienced significant growth, with mathematical skills consistently holding the top position since 2013, as shown in the video. No other skill has surpassed its importance in the job market during this period.
Mathematical skills can be divided into two distinct components, as outlined in the reputable publication Science Direct. The first component is verbal, including skills like number knowledge, counting, computation, and reasoning. The second component, nonverbal components, encompasses skills like math notation, logic in time and space, and computation. These two components together form the foundation of mathematical skills and their applications.
The data reveals that in 2013, Math skills topped the list of demanded skills with a count of 50,098, followed by Science skills at 25,049. The remaining skills were Engineering (10,025), Programming (5,012), Problem-solving (2,506), Communication (1,252), Teamwork (626), Artificial Intelligence (313), and Robotics (156).
Over the years, the demand for these skills has grown simultaneously.
By 2025, the count for Math skills reached 100,000, maintaining its position at the top. The count for Robotics skills stood at 312, retaining its position from 2013. This progression demonstrates the sustained demand for these skills over the years.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), there is a significant surge in demand for both hard and soft skills.
Employers seek candidates with advanced technological expertise, particularly in Programming, Engineering, Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Mathematics. These technical skills are highly valued in the current job market and are expected to remain in high demand in the coming year.
Additionally, employers place great importance on soft skills such as Communication, Teamwork, and creative problem-solving, recognizing their crucial role in driving success in the workplace.
You can utilize our gathered data to plan your upskilling journey effectively. By understanding the demand for these nine skills, you can strategically focus on acquiring the most sought-after competencies to enhance your career prospects if it is in tandem with your expertise and knowledge.
