By keeping your schedule organized, you can reduce stress, avoid last-minute cramming, and stay on top of your responsibilities.

    2. Get Involved

Getting involved in extracurricular activities is an excellent way to build a strong resume for college applications. Regardless of the education board, colleges and employers seek well-rounded individuals with dedication, leadership, and passion outside the classroom. Joining clubs, sports teams, or volunteer organizations are a few things you can do to start your journey off the right way. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, try new things, and pursue your passions.

    Set Goals

    4. Set Goals

By setting specific, achievable goals for each semester and creating a plan to achieve them, you can increase your chances of success. Start with setting SMART goals: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

This means that your goals should be specific, clearly defined, and measurable so that you can track your progress and adjust your plan if needed. Once you’ve set your goals, break them down into smaller, more manageable tasks, and schedule time for each task in your study calendar.

    Build Relationships

    5. Build Relationships

High school is a journey that requires constant support. Building relationships with peers and teachers who can help you achieve your goals is an essential part of that journey.

These relationships can provide you with the support, guidance, and resources you need to overcome challenges, navigate difficult situations, and achieve your full potential.

One of the best ways to build relationships in high school is to be proactive in the school community and social events. Visit your teachers once or twice a week during office hours. Office hours are designated times when your teachers are available to answer questions, review assignments, or provide additional help.

    Take Challenging Classes

    6. Take Challenging Classes

Taking challenging courses in high school is another innovative way to prepare for college, develop critical skills, and demonstrate to universities that you are prepared for college-level coursework. AP (Advanced Placement) and IB (International Baccalaureate) courses are designed to be challenging and require a significant amount of independent work and study. While choosing courses, take into account your interests, goals, and academic strengths.
