With a simple mantra of “see a problem, fix it,” Orion Jean has made huge strides in making the world a better place. As TIME’s 2021 Kid of the Year, the young prodigy has shown us all that it is possible to make a difference.

Through his work with the Race to Kindness and other projects, Orion has collected and donated 100,000 meals to food-insecure families and half a million books to kids who don’t have any at home. He is an ambassador for kindness and reminds us all that we can make a difference in the world.

Orion is a young man who is making a difference in his community. He started out by winning a national kindness speech contest and used the prize money to help those in need.

Now, he is working to bring people together to help those who are struggling. Orion spoke with actor and humanitarian Angelina Jolie over Zoom from his home, in Fort Worth, Texas, during the interview, Angelina asked about what Orion did and where did he start?

He replied by saying that when the pandemic began, people were losing their jobs, homes, and access to food and other essential things and that he wanted to help. But the opportunity came when my teacher suggested entering to the National Kindness Speech Contest in 2020.
