    100 years ago, on March 10, 1926, the Borough of South Plainfield in Middlesex County was officially incorporated. That means 2026 is South Plainfield’s Centennial year, and the celebrations are already underway.

    The New Jersey State Legislature has passed Senate Joint Resolution No. 84, officially designating March 10, 2026, as “South Plainfield Day” throughout the state. The borough is marking the occasion with a series of community activities throughout 2026.

    The Borough has launched a 100th Anniversary Essay Contest for High School and 7th & 8th grade students, presented by the South Plainfield Municipal Clerk’s Office. The borough began the celebration season early with the release of special Centennial keepsakes.
