Paravartya Yojayet is one of the popular sutras of vedic maths that presents<\/span> a<\/span> new<\/span> method<\/span> of<\/span> solving<\/span> problems<\/span>. Also <\/span>referred<\/span> to as the paravartya sutra or paravartya yojayet sutra, this technique<\/span> means<\/span> “<\/span>Transpose and Apply<\/span>.”<\/span> It <\/span>presents<\/span> a <\/span>special<\/span> method<\/span> of <\/span>transposing<\/span> one mathematical operation <\/span>to<\/span> another, <\/span>tending<\/span> to<\/span> simplify<\/span> complicated <\/span>calculations.<\/span><\/p>

What Does \u201cTranspose and Apply\u201d Mean?<\/b><\/h3>

In <\/span>short<\/span>, to transpose <\/span>is<\/span> to <\/span>swap<\/span> or <\/span>change<\/span> the <\/span>locations<\/span> of two <\/span>things<\/span>. In <\/span>math<\/span>, this <\/span>might<\/span> mean<\/span> changing<\/span> one operation into another\u2014<\/span>like<\/span> changing<\/span> subtraction into addition in <\/span>some<\/span> equations<\/span>. This <\/span>concept<\/span> is<\/span> behind <\/span>the paravartya yojayet <\/span>strategy<\/span> and<\/span> makes <\/span>it <\/span>a<\/span> good<\/span> technique<\/span> to use <\/span>when <\/span>confronted with division and other operations.<\/span><\/p>

Subtraction,<\/span> for <\/span>instance<\/span>,<\/span> can be transposed into addition in specific <\/span>formulas<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>

Transpose and Apply are often<\/span> utilized<\/span> when dividing numbers <\/span>whose<\/span> divisor is <\/span>a<\/span> little<\/span> more than any power of 10 and begins<\/span> with 1.<\/span><\/p>

Suppose<\/span> you <\/span>need<\/span> to divide a <\/span>big number (dividend) by a small<\/span> number (divisor).<\/span><\/p>

Determine the complement of the divisor, which is subtracting each digit of the divisor from 9.<\/span><\/p>

For example, if the divisor is 24, its complement would be 75 (9 \u2013 2 = 7 and 9 \u2013 4 = 5).<\/span><\/p>

Divide the dividend by the divisor<\/span> without<\/span> taking into consideration <\/span>any remainders and <\/span>note<\/span> down the quotient.<\/span><\/p>

Take<\/span> the quotient <\/span>found<\/span> in step 3 <\/span>and<\/span> multiply it with the complement of the divisor and note<\/span> down the result.<\/span><\/p>

Take<\/span> away <\/span>the result <\/span>found in step 4 from the dividend<\/span> and <\/span>note down the remainder.<\/span><\/p>

If there are additional digits in the dividend, bring down the next digit and iterate steps 3 to 5 until all the numbers have been worked through.<\/span><\/p>

The final result will be the concatenation of the quotients worked<\/span> out in Step 3, and the remainder worked<\/span> out in Step 5 will be the remainder of the division.<\/span><\/p>

Let us demonstrate this method through an example<\/strong><\/p>

Divide 785 by 24.<\/span><\/p>

Complement of 24: 9 \u2013 2 = 7, and 9 \u2013 4 = 5.<\/span><\/p>

Therefore the complement is 75.<\/span><\/p>

Divide 785 by 24: Quotient = 32 (ignore the remainder).<\/span><\/p>

Multiply the quotient by the complement: 32 x 75 = 2400.<\/span><\/p>

Subtract 2400 from 785: 785 \u2013 2400 = -1615 (negative value indicates remainder).<\/span><\/p>

Since we have no more digits in the dividend, the final result is the quotient obtained: 32, and the remainder is -1615.<\/span><\/p>

Therefore, the division of 785 by 24 using the Paravartya Yojayet method gives a quotient of 32 and a remainder of -1615.<\/span><\/p>
