It is usually chosen as a power of 10 or a multiple of 10 for simplicity.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Subtract each digit from the base number. If the digit is greater than the base number, subtract it from the next higher multiple of the base number.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Cross subtraction of left numbers with the right.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Multiplication of the right numbers<br \/><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write down the product obtained in Step 3 as the Left part of the answer and Step <\/span>4 as the Right side of the number<\/li><li>Combine the left and right parts to get the final answer.<\/li><\/ol><h4><b>Example<\/b><\/h4><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here&#8217;s an example to illustrate the sutra:<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let&#8217;s say we want to multiply 96 and 98.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Step 1: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Choose a base number close to these two numbers.
