In an era where educational choices are more abundant—and more confusing—than ever, parents need a compass that points toward future-ready skills. At Moonpreneur, we believe that the North Star of modern education is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
While many platforms offer school rankings based on a broad “lifestyle” appeal, we’ve taken a different path. We’ve designed a methodical, data-driven rating system that prioritizes academic rigor and technical potential above all else.
Here is a look behind the curtain at how we calculate the Moonpreneur Rating and why it’s the most reliable metric for STEM-focused families.
The Philosophy: Math as the Foundation
Most ranking sites use a “holistic” approach, incorporating factors like student diversity, sex ratios, and campus facilities. While these elements contribute to the school’s culture, they don’t necessarily reflect the school’s ability to prepare a child for a career in innovation.
Moonpreneur’s rating is based primarily on the STEM performance of the school. We intentionally exclude demographic data like diversity and sex ratios to keep our focus strictly on academic output and environmental quality. Our goal is to identify where students are being challenged and equipped to lead the next generation of tech pioneers.
The Methodology: A Data-Driven Breakdown
To ensure our rankings are objective, we rely on hard data from the U.S. Department of Education and other reliable government sources. We don’t guess; we calculate.
Our formula is transparent and “skewed” toward excellence in the areas that matter most:
1. Math Performance (60% Weightage)
We believe Math is the language of the future. It is the bedrock of coding, engineering, and data science. Because of this, 60% of our total rating is derived from Math scores. By tilting our ranking so heavily toward Math, we provide a clearer picture of a school’s STEM health than any other platform.
2. Student-Teacher Ratio (20% Weightage)
Even the best curriculum fails without proper support. A lower student-teacher ratio means more personalized attention, allowing educators to mentor students through complex STEM projects. We use this as a key indicator of the learning environment’s quality.
3. Aggregated Expert Opinions (20% Weightage)
We don’t work in a vacuum. We take into account the ratings of other reputable agencies and the lived experiences of students and parents. By incorporating data from sources like Niche, U.S. News & World Report, and GreatSchools, we add a layer of peer-reviewed validation to our technical analysis.
Why Moonpreneur’s Ranking is Different
While other platforms might give a school an ‘A’ for having a diverse student body and great sports programs, Moonpreneur might rate that same school differently if their Math proficiency is lagging. We aren’t looking for the most popular school; we are looking for the most academically rigorous one.
Knowledge is power.
Choosing a school is one of the most significant decisions a parent can make. If you want a school that prepares your child for the complexities of the 21st-century economy, you need a ranking system that values what you value.
At Moonpreneur, we aren’t just looking at where schools are today—we’re looking at how they are preparing students for the world of tomorrow.
Moonpreneur is on a mission to disrupt traditional education and future-proof the next generation with holistic learning solutions. Its Innovator Program is building tomorrow’s workforce by training students in AI/ML, Robotics, Coding, IoT, and Apps, enabling entrepreneurship through experiential learning.
