In the farming sector 86% farmers are small and marginal – they own less than one (1) hectares of land. This often means their aincome is low and challenges are higher.
Why do marginal or small-scale farmers struggle?
Small farmers face various production risks due to lack of information, inadequate understanding of crops, ignorance of the condition of the soil, etc. Bhoomi AI, an AI/ML-based crop disease identification and pest detection system, aims to improve this in the same way that technology can. It is marketed as a comprehensive solution for farmers, able to help them address this specific situation and support them in real-time problem-solving.
About Bhoomi AI
A group of young entrepreneurs – Anant Kumar, Neelam Kumari Sinha, Anupam Kumar, Amit Kumar Singh, and Janit Anjaria – collaborated to create Bhoomi AI, a platform designed to assist farmers with crop-related issues. Bhoomi AI offers services such as Crop Disease Detection, Pest Identification, and Drone Spraying, among others.
The team was part of Moonpreneur’s Entrepreneurship Development Program Cum Internship (EDPI), which was organized in partnership with Incubation Centrer – IIT Patna. Their goal is to empower small farmers to increase their crop yield and income through the use of digital tools.
Bhoomi AI helps farmers in :
- Pesticide check
- Soil Health
- Crop Health
- Crop Insurance
- Giving the solution of Specific problem
Pesticide Check: Pesticide check involves utilizing a specialized Machine Learning model to identify detrimental insects within agricultural environments. Once identified, the model offers tailored recommendations and solutions to effectively manage and treat the infestation, safeguarding crop health and productivity and boost the productivity of crop.
Crop Health: Crop Health is about checking how well plants are growing. Farmers can click pictures of the croup and Bhoomi AI can use those images to understand if the plants are healthy or if they have any problems. By doing this, it can figure out what needs to be done to help the plants grow better. It’s like checking a plant’s health by looking at it, and Bhoomi AI uses technology to do it faster and more accurately. This helps farmers take care of their crops and make sure they grow well and produce good harvests.
Soil Health: Soil health refers to the condition and quality of the soil, including its nutrients, structure, and other characteristics that affect plant growth. By analyzing a few images of crops, it can assess the soil’s nutrient levels and features. This helps determine which crops are best suited for that soil type. Essentially, soil health involves understanding how fertile and suitable the soil is for growing crops, and using this information to make informed decisions about crop selection and management practices for optimal yield and sustainability.
Report of Crop Damage: Bhoomi AI helps farmers by checking for crop damage caused by natural disasters and pests. They just have to send pictures of crops at different times, and Bhoomi AI will tell them how much damage they have suffered.
Crop Insurance: Crop insurance is really important for helping farmers to deal with crop loss. The goal is to provide every farmer has crop insurance. Bhoomi AI helps farmers connect with insurance companies to get the insurance they need. This way farmers are protected and can keep growing their crops without worrying about losing money if something goes wrong.
Benefits of Using Bhoomi AI

- Introduction to latest tools and technology to boost crop growth
- Get robotics sprayers at minimal cost
- Al/ML based crop disease identification & pest detection
- Facilitate farmers with pesticides, seeds, and fertilizers via fuel retail stations in rural areas.
Conclusion
Bhoomi AI is here to help farmers thrive. The technology can support farmers with crop health, soil analysis, pest control, and insurance claims. The goal is to ensure farmers’ prosperity and happiness.
