If you’re an Arkansas parent weighing education options, there’s a funding opportunity you should know about.
The Education Freedom Accounts (EFA) program gives families financial support to choose alternatives to traditional public schools, whether that’s private school tuition, homeschool materials, tutoring, or specialized therapies.
Here’s how it works.
Step 1: Create or Log In to Your FACTS Account
You’ll need a FACTS account. Returning families can log right in. New families should create an account first through arkansasefa.com, then access the EFA portal.
- Returning families: Log in using your existing FACTS credentials.
- New families: Create a FACTS account first, then log in to the EFA portal to begin your application.
Step 2: Complete the Application
The primary parent or guardian will fill out personal and demographic details.
- Returning applicants answer a few renewal questions, no document uploads needed.
- New applicants must upload proof of Arkansas residency and verification of the student’s date of birth (birth certificate or similar document).
Processing typically takes about 10 days. You can add multiple students under the same login.
Step 3: Understand Funding Priorities
Applications aren’t processed first-come, first-served. They’re reviewed in priority order once each application window closes.
Funding is awarded in this order:
- Returning EFA students
- Students with special needs (including Succeed Scholarship recipients)
- Students from underserved or low-performing schools
- Children of military, law enforcement, and first responders
- First-time kindergarteners
- New applicants without priority qualifications
If applications exceed available funding, eligible students will go on a rolling waitlist based on both priority and approval date.
Step 4: Track the Application Windows
Applications are reviewed and approved within designated three-week priority windows. The portal operates in cycles to ensure fair evaluation of all submitted applications. If approved, you’ll receive instructions for accessing funds through ClassWallet.
Arkansas is making school choice more accessible. If traditional public school isn’t the right fit for your family, EFA funding could open new doors. The process is straightforward, just start early and have your documents ready.
